The frilly, trilling Newtgat is a general pond favourite, sharing many traits with its nemesis the Lickatoad: a penchant for puddle-hopping, a low rank on the food chain and some interesting evolutionary potential.

Species variants for the Newtgat
Feeding it a bird of paradise flower changes its color to orange. Feeding it a water lily seed changes its color to pink. Feeding it a bluebell flower changes its color to blue.

Feeding a chili to a Newtgat causes it to evolve into a Salamango.

• Use the watering can on the Newtgat to increase its happiness.

Species conflicts

• The Newtgat will start fights with a Lickatoad, if one is nearby. That makes them a pain, so be careful when growing Watercress.

Other Information

• The Newtgat can climb trees.
• If you are going to make a newtgat garden, be careful of the Lickatoads that will come. Solutions: 1)Red Eye Rainbow from Ivor Bargain, 2) Gas Masks from Paper Pets on Lickatoads and newtgats, 3) make the garden have no flowers so Lickatoads don't become residents(this might be rather extreme, but if watercress doesn't attract Tafflys, then you can't get Lickatoads).
